ISTQB

The International Software Testing Qualifications Board (ISTQB®) is responsible for the international continued education program "ISTQB® Certified Tester". This program is based on syllabi that have been developed by the ISTQB®. There is also a level structure for continued education programs (Foundation Level followed by the Advanced Level program, which in turn is followed by the Expert Level module). Accreditation and certification also have to meet stringent guidelines. The board itself is composed of leading software testing experts. They are assigned to this duty by their national boards. Each national board sends one representative as a member of the ISTQB®. At this time, the ISTQB® is staffed by more than 48 experts from all continents.

The International Software Testing Qualifications Board was officially established in November 2002. Robert Treffny, the president of gasq, was involved in the development and foundation of the board at the time and is still a member of the General Assembly of the ISTQB today. Secretary General Werner Henschelchen represents gasq in the General Assembly and remains actively involved in many of the ISTQB Working Groups.

Today, the ISTQB certification is considered the leading certification system for software testing.
